Iran Elected as the Chair of IORA Women Economic Empowerment
The vice-president for women and family affairs took part at the 12th biennial meeting of the senior officials of the IORA.
At the meeting which was participated by high- ranking delegations from 23 member countries and 10 countries with the counseling position in Bangladesh the international office of the vice-presidency for women and family delivered speech and report as the chair and coordinator of the women economic empowerment working group.
Dr. Khadijeh Karimi, director general of international affairs of the vice-presidency for women and family affairs describing the biennial activities of Iran for the workshop stressed: “The experiences of the Islamic republic of Iran indicate that despite the coercive and unilateral sanctions the women can reach elevated positions when equipped with knowledge, technology and updated skills.”
Dr. Karimi added: “With this approach the national committee of IORA was set up and after discussing with the local specialists Iran’s recommendation package was submitted to the IORA secretariat for the member countries on 1st March 2022 and ultimately after several meetings with the IORA secretariat and the IORA member countries it was ratified.”
Dr. Karimi referred to the idea of women and fighting corruption which was ratified by the member countries as a strategic issue and during the bilateral meetings it was agreed to discuss the issue with women officials for collaboration in this area.
