Dr. Ensieh Khazali: In the 13th government, our women have won over 877 medals

At the closing ceremony of the international congress on women of influence the vice-president for women and family affairs stated:

With the victory of the Islamic Revolution led by the Late Imam Khomeini, the women of Iran managed to have a remarkable progress in various scientific, and cultural areas and irradicated illiteracy.

Dr. Khazali added: “In the area of health the women have access to adequate health services. Life expectancy rose from 54 to 78 years of age and half of the health sector staff are engaged   by women.

The vice president stressed: “One of the bright examples of women’s progress is in the field of sports who have earned thousands of medals until now. In this government we have witnessed women who have won over 877 medals.

Dr. Khazali stated: “You all complain of inequality and discrimination. Despite her capacity and her natural conditions, a woman is involved in matters beyond equality. I am sure some of the elite women believe that there have been cases where you have faced instances of total injustice in the name of equality.

The vice -president said: “Today our women are looking for something beyond equality; they are after justice, a justice which would recognize the sacred identity of woman. Just as we should prevent all forms of violence and abuse against women by adopting laws and amending the current situations and promoting awareness, the fragileness of women requires us to stress for the support of her family and the society.

She added: “Although women have now surpassed the stage of needing support and have changed into strong and influential women who play an effective leading role.”
