The Director-General for International Affairs at the Vice-Presidency for Women and Family Affairs, Dr. Khadijeh Karimi, who had attended the Asian Women Forum 2024 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, first explained the challenges and relevant solutions of elevating women’s activities in the areas of education, science, technology and innovation in Asia and mentioned the Islamic Republic of Iran’s experiences in this regard, reported the Public Relations Department of the Vice-Presidency for Women and Family Affairs, as quoted by Fars News Agency.
The Director-General for International Affairs at the Vice-Presidency for Women and Family Affairs added: The country’s policies intend to enhance women’s participation in various scientific, social and political fields in parallel to their role in the family and safeguarding the existence of the family faced with the onslaught of various emerging threats against the family.
While reporting on the initiative launched by the President on the Islamic Republic of Iran at the 87th session of the UN General Assembly entitled “the World Movement of Commitment to the Family”, she indicated that the said Movement’s document would be unveiled on the International Day of Families (15th may), inviting representatives of various countries to join this Movement.
Expressing support for the women and children of Gaza, Dr. Karimi asserted: “humanity necessitates that all of utilize the capacity of the regional and international meetings and forms in order to convey the voice of the oppressed people of Palestine; in this regard, the Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported, and still supports, the brave and oppressed Palestine.
The Asian Women’s Forum themed Regional Approach in Issues of Women's Economic, Social, and Political Empowerment and Expansion of Facilities” was held in Samarkand.
Women parliamentarians from East Asian, Southeast Asian and Central Asian countries, Heads of Governments, representatives of governmental bodies and civil society institutions, women entrepreneurs, politicians, social activists, scholars, representatives from economic sectors, etc. had participated in this event.
The attendees discussed women’s participation in science, education and innovation as well as utilization of digital technologies, reduction of poverty through expansion of women’s rights and economic facilities, their participation in entrepreneurship and innovation, and securing their management of the world’s modern economy.
