The representative of Iran at the annual meeting of the BRICS Women's Business Alliance (WBA), held on July 4 in Brazil, condemned the attacks by the Zionist regime on Iran and stressed the key role of women in achieving peace and sustainable development.
First, she mentioned the Zionist regime's 12-day attacks in June 2025 against Iran and described them as a blatant violation of international law and Human Rights. She stated, "The Zionist regime's aggression against innocent civilians, residential areas, and critical infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and academic centers, resulted in the deaths of over 935 people, including 102 women and 42 children. More than 5,000 were injured." She added, "These attacks have particularly affected women, children, and vulnerable communities. Yet, drawing upon Iran's rich history of resilience, culture, and civilization, our people have shown strong resolve."
Pointing out the vital role of women in economic development and sustainable peace, she asserted that the women entrepreneurs of Iran, representing diverse sectors, stand alongside our BRICS counterparts are commitment to meaningful dialogue and actionable cooperation. Through our five dedicated committees, we seek to develop frameworks that align economic objectives with shared values and mutual progress. She then presented a set of practical initiatives in five specialized working groups, emphasizing deepening technological cooperation and sustainable development:
In the Inclusive Economy sector, Iran suggested the establishment of an Inclusive Economy Knowledge Hub to support micro and medium-sized women-led businesses globally.
In the technology field, Iran expressed its readiness to host a BRICS Joint Innovation Center in Tehran. This center would facilitate collaborative research projects in advanced fields such as artificial intelligence and clean energy. It could serve as a hub for scientific cooperation among researchers from Member States.
In the area of Creative Industries and Tourism, Iran's vast potential in this sector was highlighted, along with specific programs to develop startup infrastructure and establish a specialized office in Moscow, which would pave the way for bilateral cooperation.
In the area of Food and Environmental Security, considering Iran's valuable experience in water resource management and smart agriculture, the idea of a Green Innovation Fund was proposed. This initiative could effectively address common challenges faced by Member States in combating climate change.
The Digital Healthcare field was a priority for Iran at this meeting. The Iranian representative highlighted recent achievements in using AI in the healthcare system and expressed a willingness to share these experiences with other BRICS members. Such collaborations could speed up progress toward public health goals among Member States.
Ultimately, Iran's representative stated that, despite the challenges, Iran remains committed to actively participating in BRICS. She called on Member States to work together for a future based on justice and shared development.
