A national ceremony honoring Women's Day and celebrating the role of mothers
The “Women&#rsquo;s Day” event was held at the Summit Conference Hall on 19 December 2025 with the presence of Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran; Zahra Behrouz Azar, the Vice President for Women and Family Affairs; a number of Ministers; Senior government officials; Ambassadors accompanied by their spouses and representatives from over 25 embassies, and many outstanding women in different fields such as sport, education, science, etc.
In addition to Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian and Dr. Zahra Behrouz Azar, Ms. Khadijeh Neyzari, the Head of the National Council of National Association of Women in School Construction, Ms. Marzieh Hassan Zehi, a social activis, Ms. Asieh Hatami, CEO and Founder of Iran Talent, and Ms. Shamsosadat Zahedi, a faculty member at Allameh Tabataba'i University delivered a speech at the event and shared their views and experiences.
Moreover, a report on the government's actions and progress in elevating the status of women and implementing gender justice policies was presented, and the first round of the "National Award for Top Organizations in Women's Affairs" was held. According to official evaluations by the Vice Presidency for Women and Family Affairs, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, and the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour, and Social Welfare were recognized as the top organizations in achieving gender justice indicators.
Furthermore, Mrs. Dastjerdi, Secretary of the National Population Headquarters; Mr. Ziaee, CEO of the Omid Entrepreneurship Fund; and Mr. Donyamali, Minister of Sports and Youth, for supporting women and family, empowering women-headed households, and implementing effective social and population-oriented programs.
In another part of the ceremony, eight elite and influential women of the country including Ms. Azam Irajizad, Head of the Research Center for Nanoscience and Technology at Sharif University of Technology; Ms. Fatemeh Farhadi Ganjeh, mother of martyr Mona Bakooyi and wife of martyred scientist Ali Bakooyi Katerimi; Ms. Afsaneh Hessamifar, mountaineer and prominent international athlete; Ms. Mahin Rashidi, social activist; Ms. Khadijeh Nezari, activist in the fields of charity and education; Ms. Marzieh Hassanzehi, social activist in underprivileged areas; Ms. Asieh Hatefi, entrepreneur and CEO of Iran Talent; and Ms. Shamsosadat Zahedi, university professor, were honoured as national role models.
