The BRICS Women Working Group Meeting was held on July 6 and 7 in Kochi, India, bringing together delegates from BRICS Member States to examine global challenges facing women, strengthen partnerships, exchange perspectives, and advance women’s roles in economic, social, and governance areas.

A delegation from the Vice Presidency for Women and Family Affairs, headed by Mrs. Narjes Abolqasemi, Deputy for Strategic Studies, participated in the BRICS Women’s Working Group (WWG) meeting.

Mrs. Abolqasemi elaborated on Iran’s policy approach to women and family affairs and underscored four main pillars of the meeting’s agenda, including strengthening resilience through women’s leadership; expanding financial and digital inclusion; promoting women’s entrepreneurship and skills development; and enhancing women’s participation in climate action, food security, and nutrition.

She emphasized that women’s empowerment requires moving beyond ad hoc measures to strategic and sustainable policies. In Iran, women’s entrepreneurship and economic development drive national resilience and strengthen family foundations, and all related policies are designed and implemented with a family-centered approach.

 

Mrs. Abolqasemi also highlighted Iran’s national experience in boosting a women’s entrepreneurship ecosystem, including establishing supportive frameworks for women-led, innovative enterprises, cultivating modern skills, and harnessing the potential of the digital economy.

At the end, she said Iran is ready to play an effective role in designing new models for women’s economic empowerment. She also emphasized Iran’s willingness to expand multilateral cooperation within the BRICS framework.
