During the BRICS Women's Ministerial Meeting in India, Mrs. Narjes Abolqasemi, the Deputy for Strategic Studies of the Vice Presidency for Women and Family Affairs of Iran, met with Mrs. Annpurna Devi, the Minister for Women and Child Development of India, to discuss expanding cooperation regarding women and family affairs and employing the BRICS platform to share best practices.

In this meeting, Mrs. Abolqasemi elaborated on the elevated status of women in Iran's Constitution and national Upstream Documents and highlighted the promotion of women's roles across social, economic, and cultural fields. She further noted that Iran's approach to women's economic participation is increasingly focused on supporting micro and community-based enterprises, as well as knowledge-based and innovative economies, to pave the way for greater female engagement in emerging fields. She also discussed Iran's experience with self-help groups and collective models, and stressed the importance of learning from India's success in this area. Due to its longevity, scale, and organization, she described India's model as valuable for policy development and designing effective local frameworks.

Mrs. Annapurna Devi welcomed Iran's perspectives, provided an overview of India's successful experience in developing women's self-help groups, and elaborated on their role in economic empowerment, livelihood improvement, strengthening local networks, and enhancing women's social participation.

At the end of the meeting, both sides confirmed their commitment to expert-level consultations and follow-up on cooperation. They agreed that the BRICS platform is valuable for sharing successes and expanding collaboration among women from both countries.
